Explore more of Bristol Museum and Art Gallery with Hidden Museum! This app will help you to reach parts of the museum youve probably never been to. With fun games to play along the way.

Set your group size and tell the app how long you want to explore for. Once set up, the app will create your own personalised journey around the museum, complete with a set of fun, group play, family friendly games. Playing the games unlocks secret information not available anywhere else in the museum!

At each destination, take photos of whatever you like (perhaps a selfie with your favourite object?) to build up a record of your great museum exploration, to take home or to show your friends.

USING THE APP:

Hidden Museum relies on iBeacon technology, so you need to have your Bluetooth turned on and Location Services enabled to ensure all of the capabilities of the app are available to you.

Due to its reliance on iBeacons, the app will only work as expected in the Bristol Museum and Art Gallery itself. Find out how to get to Bristol Museum and Art Gallery here: https://www.bristolmuseums.org.uk/bristol-museum-and-art-gallery/

GETTING THE MOST OUT OF HIDDEN MUSEUM:

Look around you. Think creatively! Work as a team.

Read the instructions on each screen carefully.

There are times where the app should automatically detect whereabouts in the museum you are. If you think that the app has your location wrong, please click the link at the foot of the map screen which says ‘Map not working?’ – this will reset your location within the app.

ABOUT THE PARTNERS AND FUNDING:

This app has been funded by the Digital R&D Fund for the Arts – NESTA, Arts & Humanities Research Council and public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England. It was originally developed as a prototype, but due to its success when tested in the public arena has been released as an iPad only app.

Bristol Museum and Art Gallery, Bristol University and Aardman Animations have worked in partnership to create this app.
